The workflow

From rules to a finished plan.

Four steps, from the rules a department sets once to the dashboard its head reads every week. The diagrams below illustrate each step.

Step 01

Rules, set up once

Rest windows, seniority cover, caps and fairness targets go in at the start. Hard rules and soft requests are marked as what they are, so the algorithm knows what it may bend and what it may not.

Step 02

Staff submit from their phones

Availability, vacations, absences and preferences come straight from each person. Requests route for approval and land in the algorithm as input, not as messages someone has to retype.

Step 03

The solved plan

Every rule honoured, every load balanced, every gap filled. A human reviews it and approves before anything is published.

Step 04

The department head dashboard

Load, fairness, nights and weekends per person, built from the plan itself rather than typed up afterwards. Trends build month over month, so the picture stays in the department.
